magnetic pump working principle
1. Core structure
The magnetic pump realizes power transmission through magnetic coupling, and its core structure includes:
Drive end (external magnetic rotor)
Installed on the motor shaft, it is composed of permanent magnets (such as NdFeB) or electromagnets, and generates a magnetic field when rotating.
Analogy: Similar to a "magnetic engine", it transmits power through a magnetic field.
Isolation sleeve (static seal)
Located between the external magnetic rotor and the internal magnetic rotor, it is made of non-magnetic, corrosion-resistant materials (such as stainless steel, titanium alloy).
Function: Completely isolate the medium from the external environment to prevent leakage.
Driven end (internal magnetic rotor)
Installed on the pump shaft, directly connected to the impeller, and made of permanent magnets or soft magnetic materials.
Working mode: Synchronously rotate under the magnetic field of the external magnetic rotor, driving the impeller to rotate.
2. Working principle
Magnetic field coupling
The motor drives the external magnetic rotor to rotate, and the magnetic field of the external magnetic rotor passes through the isolation sleeve and acts on the internal magnetic rotor.
Key point: The magnetic field is a "power bridge" to achieve contactless transmission.
Contactless transmission
There is no mechanical contact between the outer magnetic rotor and the inner magnetic rotor, which avoids the shaft seal wear and leakage problems of traditional pumps.
Advantages: zero leakage, low maintenance.
Fluid transportation
The impeller rotates under the drive of the inner magnetic rotor, the liquid is sucked into the pump body, and discharged from the outlet after acceleration.
Process: Similar to traditional centrifugal pumps, but the power transmission method is different.
3. Characteristics of magnetic pumps
Features Description
No leakage Magnetic coupling + isolation sleeve, completely eliminates the risk of leakage, suitable for hazardous media.
Safe and reliable No mechanical seal, avoid leakage, fire or explosion caused by seal failure.
Simple maintenance No need to replace mechanical seals, reducing maintenance costs and downtime.
Efficient and energy-saving Magnetic coupling has high efficiency, low energy consumption, and smooth operation.
4. Analogy of working principle
Magnetic pump vs. traditional pump
Traditional pump: Leakage is prevented by mechanical seals (such as packing seals, mechanical seals), but there is a risk of wear and leakage.
Magnetic pump: Power is transmitted through the magnetic field, and the isolation sleeve completely isolates the medium from the external environment to achieve zero leakage.
Magnetic pump vs. Maglev train
Maglev train: Use the magnetic field to suspend the train and reduce friction.
Magnetic pump: Use the magnetic field to transmit torque, reduce mechanical contact, and avoid leakage.
V. Application scenarios
Chemical industry: Transport corrosive media such as acids, alkalis, and salts.
Pharmaceutical industry: Transport sterile and high-purity liquids.
Petrochemical industry: Transport flammable and explosive liquids.
Environmental protection industry: Transport sewage, waste liquid, etc.
